Supporting colleagues through COVID-19

COVID-19 virus on orange background
The COVID-19 virus changed every aspect of life in the UK, including working at CSL Behring

Life changed suddenly and dramatically for everyone in the UK in March 2020 as the country was sent into its first COVID-19 lockdown. CSL Behring moved swiftly to ensure we could support our team to continue to get our medicine to the patients who rely on them.

In just a few days we provided all colleagues with IT equipment to enable them to work from home, using Microsoft Teams for internal meetings and conversations with customers and health care professionals.

We regularly surveyed all our colleagues to see how they were feeling, what challenges they were experiencing and whether there was anything we could to further support them.

The results showed that they really appreciated the support their line managers provided, the effective, regular, communication from senior management, and having all the appropriate IT equipment for working from home.

To recognise that all our staff were going the extra mile through extraordinary times, the company gave everyone two extra days leave to spend specifically on their wellbeing.

We engaged the Sleep School to deliver three hour-long online sessions to help colleagues sleep better, wake refreshed and take care of their mental health.

Flexible working around core office hours is standard practice at CSL Behring and enabled colleagues to continue to work effectively, meeting patient needs while managing the challenges of looking after their own children and loved ones.

We held focus groups with working parents to ensure their specific needs were understood and supported.
